This past weekend, we had an unforgettable training weekend with the sailing association in Langweer. We arrived Friday evening and kicked things off right away with a beautiful sunset sail — a magical start to the weekend.
Saturday morning started early at 8 AM with our first training session. We sailed in two shifts each day, rotating skippers to learn from different styles. Around midday, we had lunch at a Marekrite near Joure, lowering the mast to pass under a bridge – a real team effort!
In the evening, we cooked and enjoyed a delicious curry together. As the sun set again, some of us headed back onto the water, while others took a refreshing swim to end the day on a high note.
Sunday began just as early, with new boat crews and fresh wind. We had lunch at another Marekrite, followed by the highlight of the weekend: a game of boat tag with balls and water pistols. Nobody was safe – and nobody stayed dry!
Throughout the weekend, we practiced lots of man-overboard drills, supported and challenged each other, and learned a ton. We're proud to announce three new skippers: congratulations to Sterre, Miguel, and Maaike!
A big thank you to our skippers Niek, Kilian, Julian, and Maria for guiding us, to the ZeilCie for organizing, and to Thymos for the subsidy. What a weekend – can’t wait for the next one!
